Project Brief

This apartment complex was experiencing issues with the Doorphone system, so we were approached to change it and integrate the new one with the Crestron home automation system. Beside testing all the cables, replacing the door phones on the external gates and the internal units for 11 houses, we were asked for some AV upgrades in one of the apartments.

Project Outcome

One of the most important aspects when updating a system that affects several apartments at the same time is to minimise disruption for the residents. This project was in summer and meeting the different schedules of all the people involved was quite challenging, so we had to plan everything carefully to complete all the operations in the 3-hours periods we were given for each apartment. After the delivery of the goods, it took 15 days in total to complete everything.
We started with the external units of the two gates and installed a bespoke unit by Comelit to fit all the components in the existing holes. We used an anti-vandal, waterproof brass panel with custom coating to meet the desired colour.
After connecting the gates to the concierge intercom system, we started preparing everything virtually in order to minimize the time required in each apartment. Then, we identified, checked and certify all relevant cables, replaced the internal Crestron touchscreens and the external units. Finally, the engineers proceeded with the commissioning and training, and fobs were delivered to all residents.
For the apartment that required further upgrades, we installed 4k matrix switchers from pulse-8 to control all the AV sources.
