You might think that, when it comes to home automation systems, the quality of the technology is what matters the most. However, this is not the only aspect to consider when planning your project.
Let’s be clear: choosing high-quality materials and reliable components is certainly important and might save you lots of troubles. After all, it’s the main reason why we only choose premium manufacturers and our team invests so much time in R&D and product testing.
Still, excellent technology is not enough if it’s not integrated properly. We already talked about how crucial it is to hire highly experienced integrators to avoid getting faulty systems or complicated interfaces. Today we are highlighting another key aspect, which is the installation process itself.
Minimizing disruption
This is something often overlooked because both clients and companies tend to focus on the final results.
However, depending on the complexity of the project, installations can last from a few days to entire months. Especially in the latter case, minimizing disruption should be a major point of consideration.
We often face this aspect when we work on residential complexes: since there are a lot of parties involved (e.g. the concierge, tenants etc.), completing the job with the smallest number of steps can really make the difference. This is where bespoke pieces of equipment can also help: for example, in our project at The Collection, we were able to replace a 12 years old analogue door phone with a bespoke model using the latest IP technology with minimum intervention in the wall. Moreover, thanks to careful project management and streamlining of the programming, we were able to complete the project in 15 days and only accessing each apartment for 3 hours.
Protecting your belonging
Another important aspect is to avoid damages to your possessions. For some operations dust etc. cannot be avoided, so it’s important to make sure that your belongings will be taken care of.
This is especially relevant if your property or yacht is not a new construction and you have furniture in place that cannot be moved.
Cable maintenance
How will the cables be organized? This might seem a trivial question, but actually makes the difference in how tidy the installation will look, not to mention how easy or difficult any maintenance operation will be.
Nowadays home automation is more and more popular, and we often take over projects with existing systems in place. However, it’s not always easy to work when what we find is a messy knot of cables.
On top of that, drawings and technical documentation are often scarce or non-existant. Some companies try to use this a way to force clients to stay with them, but it creates all kind of complications. At Advanced Integration, we always aim for long-standing business relationships with our clients, but we firmly believe that repeated business should come from delivering great experiences, without shady tricks.
